Sailing Tips

Below are some sailing tips, which will help you enjoy your sailing trips.

You’d better be very careful on board when you are sailing. Always wear a pair of soft sailing shoes to protect your feet and the deck. When sailing, do not walk on deck, since it’s dangerous. If you have to go to the deck for some particular reasons, do not forget to use the life belt.

Before operating the electric anchor on the sailboat, it is necessary to start the motor and run it at 1200 rpm to 1500 rpm. Otherwise, the battery will be exhausted, since the consumption of the sailboat battery is very high.

Many sailing yachts have a switch to connect the refrigerator and motor batteries, which is designed to have more power when starting your sailboat motor. You can connect them as long as the motor is running. But do remember to switch off when you stopped the yachts motor. This will protect you from losing the electric power on the sailing yachts.

When mooring your sailboat in a port, always put a fender between the sailing yacht and the quay. Sometimes for any reason the anchor may not keep the sailing yacht in its position, the fender will keep the yacht from touching the quay.

Always keep an eye on the hour counter of the sailing yachts’ motor. Since the fuel gauge is not always reliable. Count the hour yourself will make sure that you have enough fuel to go back home.

Sailing is fun. Keep those tips in mind and be careful. You will sure enjoy your sailing trips.
